Pony 21st ANNUAL Horseback Poker Ride

Saturday June 14, 2023, 8:30 am – 1:30 pm

The ride is held in the charming and historical town of Pony, Montana.

This year, 2025, we’ll be inviting you to again saddle up the horses and put on your poker face for the Pony 21st ANNUAL Horseback Poker Ride.

The below schedule might be subject to change so check back here before you head to Pony!

  • Registration in person: 8:30 am-10 am
  • First rider out: 9 am
  • Last rider out: 10:30 am
  • Last rider in: 1:30 pm
  • Last poker hand accepted at 1:30 pm
  • Limited parking — please trailer together if possible
  • Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Poker hands will be awarded after the last rider gets back

This is a Pony Homecoming Club Fund Raiser.

The ride is held in the charming and historical town of Pony, Montana.

Last year’s rides was at Sitz’ Ranch outside of Pony so please note the change of location this year. Pony is located about 45 minutes SE of Butte and 55 minutes SW of Bozeman. Take Hwy 287 to Harrison and turn onto Hwy 283 to Pony (MAP). When you get to Pony there will be directions where to park.

The Poker ride is sponsored by the Pony Homecoming Club. Registration for the Poker Ride is 8:30-10 am in Pony at the old School. Follow signage in Pony to registration and ride-start.

Registered riders (no horses at registration table please) can start between 9 am and 10:30 am for the approximately 7-8 mile long trail and dirt road ride. NO LATE ENTRIES please — last rider out is 10:30 am.

$20 buy-in gets you one hand and ride. $10 per extra hand. Lunch is not included this year — Food truck available: TBD.

Parking in Pony is limited so please trailer and travel together if possible.

For the ride please note:

  • You must be 18+ for poker hands
  • Children (under 10) ride for free
  • Don’t bring dogs (fair warning; there are a lot of dogs in Pony, you might encounter loose dogs during the ride)
  • Part of the ride is on a public (dirt) road. Expect fellow users incl. ATV, dirt bikes, hikers and mountain bikes.
  • Bring your all-weather gear
  • Water for horses available along the trail (creek)
  • There is limited parking so please trailer together if possible
  • A short section of the trail is on Forest Service property
