Kari and Simon

by | Jan 29, 2019 | Faces of Pony

Kari and Simon are interested in exploring the good, the true and the beautiful that run through the currents, explicit and hidden, in our complex, exquisite, deeply connected and heartbreaking world. They both love to plant living things and to cook and eat them. They grow more than twenty varieties of heirloom garlic on Ponyland Farm and have planted over 500 trees for future birds and bees and another millimeter of earth-building hummus and simply for the sake of joy which is its own reason.

Simon hails from New Zealand, Scotland and Australia and Kari was born in Detroit, grew up in Montana, and lived in Arizona, California and Oregon before returning to her home-ground. You can find Kari reading, writing or painting and Simon skiing, reading or exploring and both of them trekking around mountains and working on their current project (be) Benevolution, a collection of interviews, stories and essays about beneficial, creative and courageous ways of engaging with the challenges of our time. Kari is a PHC board member.

Kari wishes to apologize to the community at large for failing to follow through on her plans to populate Ponyland Farm with a breeding program for miniature donkeys, Nigerian dwarf goats and Maremma livestock guardian dogs and thus provide a visual feast of adorable’ness for all passers-by. It was – and would have been – a joyful sight but it turns out she is not cut out to sell animals, only to love them.
