Folklore had Smith Updyke “Pony” McComsey staking his claim one year and returning the next year with a partner to work the claim. Still researching, but believe this partner was his brother William H McComsey.

In later years, William had moved to Missouri and when he passed away, “Pony” had his body shipped to Salt Lake City to be buried in the family plot. A complaint was filed by the Utah Secretary of State Board of Health to the Missouri State Board of Health that the body was improperly prepared and may have resulted in the Missouri Undertaker’s license being revoked.
